TOP BOXER MAYWEATHER TO SERVE AS HONORARY STARTER AT INDY

Floyd Mayweather Jr., the world’s top pound-for-pound boxer, will serve as the honorary starter of the 92nd Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 25.

INDIANAPOLIS, April 25, 2008 – Mayweather, a world champion in five weight classes, will wave the green flag to send the field of 33 drivers in action on the famous 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval. The race will be broadcast live at 1 p.m. (ET) on ABC Sports, the IMS Radio Network and XM Satellite Radio.
“To be asked to wave the green flag at the Indianapolis 500 is an incredible honor,” Mayweather said. “I’m extremely excited to be a part of this event and to see the best drivers in the world perform on the biggest stage in all of sports.”
Mayweather, a native of Grand Rapids, Mich., has a 39-0-0 record as a fighter, including high-profile, masterful victories in 2007 over Oscar de la Hoya and Ricky Hatton that earned him the 2007 Fighter of the Year award from the Boxing Writers Association of America. Mayweather is the current WBC welterweight (147 pounds) world champion and also has held world title belts at junior middleweight, light welterweight, lightweight and super featherweight divisions.
1996 Olympic bronze medalist Mayweather is universally recognized as the best pound-for-pound fighter. He has been ranked No. 1 by The Ring magazine, considered the bible of the sport, since July 2005 and has appeared in The Ring’s top 10 pound-for-pound rankings for a staggering 486 weeks, more than double the length of any other fighter currently on that list.
“We’re happy to welcome Floyd Mayweather to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to serve as the honorary starter of the 92nd Indianapolis 500,” said Joie Chitwood, IMS president and chief operating officer. “The speed, power and charisma that he has shown in the ring are a perfect match for the excitement of ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.’”
His success in the ring has enabled Mayweather, 31, to transcend boxing to become one of the most recognized sports stars on the planet. Mayweather competed on ABC’s hit “Dancing with the Stars” last fall along with two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves, who won the competition. The colorful Mayweather, nicknamed “Money,” also participated this spring in World Wrestling Entertainment’s “Wrestlemania XXIV.”
These appearances out of the boxing ring added to Mayweather’s burgeoning crossover appeal with boxing fans, sports enthusiasts, women and children.

TOYOTA LAUNCHES LITERACY PROGRAM FOR HISPANIC AND OTHER IMMIGRANT FAMILIES IN OAKLAND

Contributes $3 million to Expand Program to Five Additional Cities Nationwide

April 25, 2008 - Oakland, CA - Toyota today announced that four Oakland elementary schools will be among the newest sites for its successful Toyota Family Literacy Program (TFLP). TFLP - the first nationwide program of its kind to focus on the needs of Hispanic and other immigrant families - is coordinated by the National Center for Family Literacy (NCFL), the country's leading advocate for family literacy.
Toyota has contributed $600,000 to fund the program at International Community School, Garfield Elementary, Manzanita SEED and Manzanita Community. All four schools are located in the Oakland Unified School District, and average between 46 percent and 78 percent Hispanic enrollment.
TFLP - which got its start in 2003 and is now functioning in 20 cities across the U.S. - aims to increase basic language and literacy skills among Hispanic and other immigrant families, and provide parents with the skills they need to help their children succeed in school. The program specifically serves children in kindergarten to third grade and their parents. TFLP is unique in that it incorporates NCFL's multicultural family literacy model, which combines key components including: ESL courses, children's education, parenting education, Parent and Child Together (PACT) activities, and computer-literacy instruction. Since its inception, Toyota's commitment to the program exceeds $35 million.
In addition to launching the program at these four schools, the funding will allow NCFL to provide comprehensive support for training, educational materials and assistance at each site. Oakland Unified School District is working hand-in-hand with NCFL to implement the family literacy program.
Along with Oakland, four other cities are part of the latest expansion of the Toyota Family Literacy Program: Salt Lake City, Utah; Burien/Seattle, Wash.; Mesa, Ariz.; and Miami, Fla. A total of 230 school districts submitted applications for the five spots.
"Early literacy is the cornerstone of our effort to ensure that all Oakland Unified students graduate prepared for success in college and the workplace," said Vincent Matthews, State Administrator for the Oakland Unified School District. "We are committed to ensuring that every student, regardless of socioeconomic circumstance, ethnic background or language barrier, receives the academic foundation they need to succeed. By bringing parents into the classroom to learn alongside their children, the Toyota Family Literacy Program moves us closer to the day when this goal becomes reality."

Results from the TFLP programs already implemented include:

• Significant literacy gains by adults, the majority of which improved their literacy scores by one or more levels
• Ratings for children in the program that exceeded peers in areas including academic performance, motivation to learn, attendance, classroom behavior, involvement in classroom activities, and other areas
• 92% of parents stating they're better able to help their child with homework
• 91% of parents stating their child's grades have improved
• Waiting lists at the majority of program sites due to high demand

"By partnering with Toyota, NCFL has nurtured a proven formula of research and delivery of family literacy services that not only works for the participants, but for the betterment of the communities," said Sharon Darling, president and founder of NCFL. "And, we're proud to say, our path to success here in Oakland has been set by the impressive gains made by thousands of TFLP participants in family literacy programs nationwide."
"Due to the incredible commitment of NCFL, the Toyota Family Literacy Program has helped improve the literacy skills of thousands of families in diverse communities across the U.S.," said Patricia Pineda, group vice president, philanthropy, at Toyota Motor North America. "We're excited to bring the program to Oakland, and look forward to making even more positive and lasting contributions to students and families."

JUICE ENERGY INC. ANNOUNCES SPONSORSHIP OF FOURTH ANNUAL GREEN GRAND PRIX

APRIL 22, 2008 - most efficient Hybrids and Alternative Fueled Vehicles (AFV) set to compete over scenic roads in upstate New York, all attention will be on the limitless possibilities of green power – making first year sponsor Juice Energy a natural fit.
Juice – a New York based electricity supplier with a focus on renewable sources – is eager to share its methodologies with the businesses and potential partners on hand for the Green Grand Prix. Juice’s unique approach can help clients manage their carbon emissions, while also delivering electricity at the lowest possible rates. Through the use of sophisticated analytics and customized strategies, Juice can shield their clients from the wild swings in the price of electricity, potentially saving significant sums of money in the process.
The 60-mile Green Grand Prix is the creation of artist -- and fellow hybrid owner -- Bob Gillespie, and is the only official SCCA Time-Speed-Distance road rally for AFV’s and hybrids in the U.S. “We created this event four years ago to give people a first hand look at alternative personal transportation. This year’s event will be even bigger than the last, as more and more people realize the multiple benefits of green power,” said Gillespie.
In addition to the road rally itself, there will be a “green” vehicle and sustainable energy display, a Speaker Forum, where Juice Energy’s Environmental Director, Tim Treadwell, will speak on renewable energy markets, and a gallery of entries from a student AFV design contest that is currently running in many schools across the country.
Juice co-founder and President Brian Hayduk says his company is the perfect partner for the Green Grand Prix: “We share a lot in common with the goals of Bob Gillespie in that we’re both working to promote renewable energy and the reduction of greenhouse gases. Through events such as this we can really focus on promoting awareness of the benefits of going green. We strive to show our clients that they can effectively offset their carbon footprint while at the same time save a significant amount of money.”
Juice’s involvement with the Green Grand Prix comes on the heels of their announced partnership with the legendary Watkins Glen International raceway. ‘The Glen’ has become one of the first tracks worldwide to adopt green initiatives. The fourth annual Green Grand Prix will be hosted upstate New York on May 3rd.

DANICA PATRICK WINS INDY JAPAN 300 AT TWIN RING MOTEGI

MOTEGI, Japan, Sunday, April 20, 2008 – Since exploding into the consciousness of an international audience at the 2005 Indianapolis 500, Danica Patrick has faced questions of when she would win an IndyCar Series race.
She answered with a flurry of a finish at Twin Ring Motegi, becoming the first female to win a major auto racing event. Patrick, who turned 26 three weeks ago, won in her 50th IndyCar Series start.
"Finally," Patrick said in victory lane. "This is a long time coming. It was a fuel strategy race, but my team called it perfectly for me. I know I was on the same strategy at Helio (Castroneves) and when I passed him for the lead, I couldn't believe it. This is fabulous."
Helio Castroneves, making his 100th IndyCar Series start, finished 5.8594 second behind and Scott Dixon was third. Dixon's Target Chip Ganassi Racing teammate, Dan Wheldon, finished fourth and Tony Kanaan was fifth.
With six laps remaining, Dixon had a 3.6-second lead over Dixon. But the leader had to pit for a splash of fuel on Lap 195. Wheldon and Kanaan had to follow suit on Lap 196. That left the door open for Patrick and Castroneves, whose last pit stop came on Lap 148.

FORD INCREASES PRODUCTION OF FOCUS AT WAYNE ASSEMBLY TO KEEP UP WITH RISING SALES

WAYNE, Mich., April 20, 2008 –
Ford Motor Company said today that North American production of the Ford Focus will increase by nearly 30 percent in 2008 to keep pace with strong demand for the newly redesigned small car.
The new Focus – which delivers 35 miles per gallon and industry-first technology such as Ford SYNC™ – has been a hot seller since it began rolling off the assembly line at Ford’s Wayne Stamping and Assembly Plant in late 2007.

In the first three months of 2008, Ford sold 49,070 Focus units – an increase of 23 percent from the same time period last year. Importantly, retail sales were up 35 percent, while fleet sales declined slightly. The Focus now claims 7.6 percent of the U.S. small car market, 1.2 percentage points better than a year ago.
Based on the strong demand, Ford is increasing production in order to build a total of 245,000 Focus units in 2008, up from 191,000 in 2007. The production plan means Wayne Stamping and Assembly’s 2,800 employees will work some overtime and Saturday shifts for the rest of the year to meet demand.
“Our employees are determined to deliver high-quality vehicles to our customers,” said Wayne Stamping and Assembly Plant Manager Dale Wishnousky. “Our work force understands the Focus is the gateway to Ford Motor Company and knows it is a great car and it’s great to see that our customers know it – and love it – too.”
The 2008 model of the fun-to-drive Focus launched in October 2007 with industry-exclusive technology such as Ford SYNC™, the hands-free voice-activated in-car communications and entertainment technology that integrates Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones and digital music players. SYNC-equipped Focus accounted for 40 percent of the sales.
The new Focus also launched with improved quality – with 13 percent fewer Things Gone Wrong (TGW) over last year. This is according to the 2008 Q1 Global Quality Research System (GQRS) study conducted for Ford by RDA Group of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
Ford invested $130 million in Wayne to build the new Focus. The company installed new tooling and equipment, body shop upgrades and a new onsite “rough road” test track for the Focus.
J.D. Power sales data show that 30 percent of 2008 Focus year buyers are 16 to 35 years old. That’s up from 26 percent of 2007 Focus buyers.
Wayne Stamping and Assembly opened in 1952. It currently employs 2,655 hourly and 145 salaried employees.

KEVIN HARVICK

NASCAR KEVIN HARVICK EXPLORING HIS OPTIONS IN NHRA DRAG RACING

ALPHARETTA, Ga. April 15, 2008 - NASCAR superstar and Daytona 500 winner Kevin Harvick and his wife DeLana have teamed with NHRA drag racing veteran Bob Vandergriff Jr. to explore the option of fielding a Top Fuel dragster in NHRA competition. The proposed Harvick-Vandergriff Motorsports will specialize in offering its sponsors marketing opportunities in NHRA, NASCAR Sprint Cup, Craftsman Truck, and the Nationwide Series.
"I think we have a unique opportunity to provide unprecedented reach for companies looking to achieve their objectives through motorsports," Vandergriff said. "As this deal evolves, we want to offer the companies aligned with Harvick-Vandergriff Motorsports the chance to use the best of NHRA and NASCAR through the same program. We'll have the capabilities to provide something no other team can offer.
"I'm extremely excited about this opportunity with Kevin and his wife DeLana. Our ideas of how to market our motorsports programs and our long-term goals are the same."
This would be an unprecedented alignment of teams in the top two motorsports sanctions in the United States. Vandergriff also believes that having a team car to run alongside his championship-contending UPS dragster would be a huge advantage.
"The response from the companies we've spoken to already has been tremendous," Harvick said. "Everyone at Kevin Harvick Incorporated and Richard Childress Racing has become extremely interested with what's happening in the drag racing world through our friendship with Bob. The more we come to understand what is happening in the NHRA series, the more attractive it's becoming as a whole.
"It's my belief that NHRA could provide a great marketplace for us to grow our business by providing unmatched opportunities for interested sponsors. We view this as something that would be a natural extension of our current Craftsman Truck and Nationwide Series programs. Bob's a proven leader and innovator and DeLana and I are happy to be here as his guests. The future looks very exciting."
Vandergriff and Harvick plan to begin assembling a race team and all of the necessary components and people within the next two months as they prepare for a 2009 debut. Announcements regarding the driver and sponsors will be forthcoming.

Through this expanded association, Coca-Cola will develop retail marketing programs to help enhance the IndyCar racing experience for fans throughout the season.

SCION REVEALS HAKO COUPE CONCEPT AT THE 2008 NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW

March 20, 2008 - New York - Scion unveiled its Hako Coupe Concept vehicle at a press conference at the New York International Auto Show.
Scion's Hako Coupe was developed by Tokyo Design Division, which studied global, youth-inspired trends. Japanese and American youth cultures often influence each other and are interpreted with a unique twist. The Hako Coupe Concept was inspired by the iconic xB and the emergence of American vintage style among young Tokyo trendsetters.
"Scion's Hako Coupe Concept embodies a distinct global

perspective on today's youth," said Jack Hollis, Scion vice president. "This type of forward thinking complements the Scion philosophy of intently listening to our customers and being willing to take risks to help us see where our brand should be. We took the xB's iconic boxy shape and explored something more vivacious, yet just as emotionally appealing. This concept is the sporty version of a box."
Tokyo Design developed the Hako Coupe with classic American coupes in mind. The car's geometric profile conveys a powerful stance in a compact and bold package. Its trapezoidal LED headlights lie parallel with a large and aggressive, rectangular upper grille. The lower rectangular grille anchors the front fascia and continues to communicate the Hako's aggressive attitude. Round fog lights, symmetrically placed high on the front bumper, have integrated turn signals.
The Hako's silhouette is accentuated by slim, race-car-inspired side mirrors that also feature integrated turn signals. Powerful, flared fenders add dimension and contrast to the concept's boxy shape and smooth surface planes. The Hako concept hugs the road with custom 18-inch deep dish five-spoke wheels and tires with a "Scion" custom tread.
The Hako Coupe features a vertical windshield as the concept sits upright and ready to attack the road. A high linear beltline along with a blackened and chopped greenhouse seamlessly wrap around the rear to provide a mysterious profile. As an example of potential personalization, the concept is equipped with a flat, panorama roof that features a random, barcode-like pattern that can be seen on the exterior and from the interior.
The rear features LED taillights that echo the shape of the headlights. To complete the package, the rear bumper has an integrated fog and back up light on the left and exhaust on the right.
Inside, the Hako is accented with orange and metallic detailing that exudes a modern environment with entertainment possibilities. The front and rear seats are covered with urethane and rubber-like upholstery for easy cleaning. The contemporary front bucket seats flow to the floor and incorporate a geometric design on the seatback. The seats are separated by a center console that features a large storage crevice for storing magazines, cell phones, and other small items. Two cockpit-like rear seats also share a storage crevice.

Media try to get a glimpse of the interior of the Hako Coupe concept vehicle after it was unveiled at the New York International Auto Show Wednesday, March 19, 2008. The orange driver's seat has a gaming theme. Instrumentation and warning lights cascade from the art inspired instrument panel to the steering wheel. The shifter, located on the center console, resembles a large joystick. On the steering wheel is a simple button to start the engine and a track-ball type control for the Hako's entertainment system located on the passenger dash. The entertainment system consists of two video monitor screens mounted on the dash for radio, video, and music capabilities. Users can upload their videos and music through a Bluetooth® connection. The front passenger controls the system using a large rollerball mounted on the center of the dash. A black seat differentiates the front passenger area.
Video monitors located on each door and on each side of the rear seating area project distorted fish-eye images from orange filtered cameras mounted beneath the A-pillars. While the vehicle is parked the driver and passenger can edit the scenes captured by the cameras to show their friends where they have been and perhaps even post the clip online for others to see.
"As you know, polarizing style fits in well with our lineup," said Hollis. "And of course we love a good box. We'll listen to the feedback from this concept to help us determine how our brand could evolve and grow over the next five years."

The award, presented to the fastest qualifier each race weekend, builds on the strong partnership already in place between the IndyCar Series and PEAK Performance Products. PEAK Motor Oil is the official motor oil of the IndyCar Series, and PEAK Antifreeze serves as the primary sponsor of the IndyCar Series’ championship race at Chicagoland Speedway.
The PEAK Motor Oil Pole Award will give $10,000 to the fastest qualifier at each race on the schedule except for the Indianapolis 500, where it will award $100,000 for the top qualifier. In addition to the $100,000 for the Indianapolis 500 polesitter, PEAK will award $25,000 to the second place Indianapolis 500 qualifier, and $10,000 for the third-place qualifier. These top-three qualifiers will make up the PEAK Motor Oil Front Row.
Representatives from PEAK and the IndyCar Series will make a Peak Motor Oil Pole Award trophy presentation immediately after qualifying at each race event, and a check presentation during race day driver introductions on the new IndyCar Series stage.
“We recognized years ago the value in partnering with the IndyCar Series to promote our line of high quality PEAK automotive products, and this new sponsorship announcement will build on that longstanding partnership,” said Jerry Riccioni, Senior Vice President of Automotive Sales for Old World Industries, maker of PEAK products. “The IndyCar Series has never been better positioned for growth, and we’re excited to be a part of that. PEAK has an industry-leading line of premium quality automotive products to offer to consumers, and we look forward to getting those products in front of a growing open-wheel racing fan base.”
The PEAK Motor Oil Pole Award will be presented by AutoZone for the first six events on the IndyCar Series schedule, with other presenting partners to be added later in the season.
“It makes good business sense for the IndyCar Series to partner with trusted, quality consumer brands like PEAK,” said Terry Angstadt, President of the Commercial Division for the Indy Racing League, sanctioning body of the IndyCar Series. “So we’re thrilled to see their interest in expanding our existing relationship and we look forward to working with them throughout this season to maximize the opportunities that we both have in front of us.”

TWENTY-THREE SUCCESSFUL FEMALE RACERS COMPLETE PHASE 2 OF WOMEN IN THE WINNER'S CIRCLE FOUNDATION DRIVER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

INDIANAPOLIS March 14, 2008 -
A full "field" of 23 female racing drivers, ages 12 to 26, completed Phase 2 of the 14th annual Women in the Winner’s Circle Foundation Driver Development Program, held at the National Institute of Fitness and Sport in Indianapolis on March 1-2.
Founded by Lyn St. James, the 1992 Indy 500 Rookie of the Year and a motivational speaker, the Women in the Winner’s Circle Foundation Driver Development Program has graduated over 200 female race-car drivers since 1994. The drivers go through an intensive schedule of fitness and motivational programs, as well as seminars and instruction in the business of auto racing, including public relations, sponsorship, money management, and media training.

Last week's program followed Phase 1, which was held in Phoenix, Ariz., in Nov. 2007, at Athlete's Performance, an elite athlete fitness facility. In the beginning phase, 26 drivers from countries as far away as England, Switzerland, Jamaica, the Philippines, and more than 13 U.S. states went through fitness, mental and physical exercises and testing to help prepare these already proficient drivers for an even more successful future in motorsports.
Each driver from Phase 1 was invited back to Phase 2. The 23 drivers who returned for the business programs in Phase 2 were also re-tested for all the fitness and mental exercises they learned in Phase 1 by Dr. Jacques Dallaire of Prime Performance. All results will be reviewed and drivers will learn if they are invited to attend Phase 3, which will focus on the technical and on-track elements of racing. Phase 3 is scheduled for June of 2008.
"We definitely saw some maturity and improvements in Phase 2," said St. James. "These drivers are all very young. The youngest is 12, the oldest is 26. It's amazing in about four months' time how much you see the drivers, as individuals, mature. They were all very committed to the regimen that we established in November. We saw their ability to absorb a lot of information about media training, about the sponsorship and financial aspects of the sport, and how important this is as a business."
Internationally renowned race-car driver Derek Daly presented an entire pyramid of the different elements and talents a race-car driver has to have to be successful, which are outlined in his just released book, "Driven to Win."
"All these aspects are trainable, except the top of the pyramid: desire," said St. James, "so we focus on these trainable elements and look for that last piece: desire.”
Other experts who presented included: Linda Conti of Wachovia Securities; Mike Giannamore of BKD, LLP; Darren Hickey of Gregory & Appel; Doug Boles of Ignition-Inc.; Deb Turner of NCAA; media expert Judy Stropus, of JVS Enterprises; and Mike Camosy provided a tour of the Auto Research Center in Indianapolis.
"At the end of this I would like to see race-car drivers who are not only successful at whatever level they happen to be racing," added St. James, "but hopefully this information will improve their ability to be more successful in whatever they do in their lives. It will help them decide how committed they really are and find out if they are ready to go down the path of being a fully-prepared professional race-car driver.
"There's a lot of people who race for fun and there's nothing wrong with that. In fact, fun is important. But I think it can be difficult to understand that there's more to it than just getting sponsors. They are going to have to work extremely hard; harder than they ever realized. This program teaches them the things that will help them be more successful at whatever level they choose to race, but they will also know what they need to do to be prepared for the professional levels of racing."
Lyn St. James selects the students by processing resumes and referrals she receives and personally perusing race results from around the world. "Thank you, Chris Economaki (publisher emeritus of National Speed Sport News)," she said. "I get National Speed Sport News and read all the race results and look for the female drivers, because if they're in there, they're probably at least top-10 finishers. I also contact sanctioning bodies such as WKA, USAC, NHRA, and the racing schools and ask who stands out and who they see has potential."
The drivers invited to the program come from a variety of disciplines, including stock-car racing, road-racing, open-wheel racing, quarter-midget and go-kart competition, among many others.
The primary criteria for being invited to the Driver Development Program is that St. James personally looks at each resume and determines the person who has a lot of experience, has established some success and appears to have the ingredients and potential to be successful.

CAMS GIVES GREEN LIGHT TO NEW PORSCHE GT3 CUP CHALLENGE

MARCH 13, 2008 - The Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) has approved the transfer of the current Porsche Drivers Challenge Category Management Agreement (CMA) from the Australian GT Sport Car Group (AGTSCG) to Challenge Cup Promoters (CCP).
The transfer of the CMA will see the creation of a new low-cost Porsche series, the 'Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Australia' for 996-series GT3 Cup Cars, GT3 road cars and previous generation 911 race cars.
The national series will provide for owners committed to quality racing without the professional price tag and will, for 2008, track share with the already established Australian GT Championship.
CAMS CEO, Graham Fountain says that "CAMS is pleased to endorse the transfer of CMA from the AGTSCG to the CCP and believe the new category is a great initiative to secure involvement from some of the older Porsche race cars in Australia, and ultimately increase participation in the sport".
"The Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge category will track share with the GT Sport Car Category for three of their four events in 2008 with the intention to secure six stand alone rounds in 2009," said Fountain.
"This is a further and clear example of us building a sustainable pathway within the sport and proactively addressing increased participation at the grass-roots, club level of the sport" he added.
The Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Australia will be modelled off the international endorsed Porsche series of the same name and aims to provide a stepping stone for Porsche competitors between club level racing and national elite Championships such as the Carrera Cup.
Sven Burchartz, licensee of the Challenge Cup Promoters says, "The Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge is a great opportunity for drivers who are looking for a sustainable way to compete in a Porsche without the budget needed for elite level competition."
"I am really excited about the future of Porsche racing in Australia and looking forward to sharing the track with the Australian GT Championship -- while looking forward to competing in a stand- alone series in 2009," Burchartz added.

CHANGE IN MANAGEMENT FOR SUZUKI WORLD RALLY TEAM

MARCH 12, 2008 - Akira Kawada (47) has regretfully resigned from his position in the Suzuki World Rally Team for personal reasons. Beginning with Rally Argentina and for the remainder of the 2008 season, his role as team manager will be taken over by Paul Wilding (39), long term associate of Suzuki Sport Japan.
Paul has a long history with Suzuki Sport having been involved in many of Suzuki's rally sport projects over many years, among them the chief coordination of Suzuki's debut year in the JWRC (2002), management of Suzuki's Asia-Pacific Rally Championship team (2002-2004) and the 2006 Suzuki JWRC team, team manager for multiple International Hill climb entries with the Suzuki WRC Team Principal, Nobuhiro 'Monster' Tajima, and numerous other rally specific advisory and assistance roles within the company over the past six years. His familiarity with the WRC, Suzuki Sport and its personnel, Japanese language skills and intimate understanding of Japanese culture and principals gained from experiences over the last 15 years will benefit the team greatly in their quest to complete their debut season in the WRC.
Akira Kawada joined the Suzuki World Rally Team at the end of 2007 and managed its entrance into the first full World Rally Championship season. "During our three debut events at Rallye Monte Carlo, Swedish Rally and Rally Mexico the team benefited greatly from Akira Kawada's wide WRC experience. We are very grateful for his contribution and his efforts", said team principal Nobuhiro Tajima. "It is unfortunate that for reasons personal to Kawada san and beyond our control we cannot continue our association with him for the remainder of the year. We wish him well in the future."

"It was quite a short association, but it was a great pleasure working with the team", stated Akira Kawada. For the remainder of the 2008 WRC season, he will return to his former occupation and work as a journalist again.
The entire Suzuki World Rally Team wishes him every success in his future endeavours.

ROAD AMERICA ADDS SPEED WORLD CHALLENGE TO AUGUST LINE-UP

Elkhart Lake, WI, March 12, 2008 - Road America has released a revised line-up for its Road Race Showcase, scheduled for August 7-10, 2008. Because of scheduling conflicts caused by the Indy Racing League and Champ Car World Series unification, it appears that Champ Car is unable to hold its Champ Car Grand Prix at Road America that weekend.
The showcase continues to highlight the American Le Mans Series in Saturday's Generac 500. This four-hour race will again culminate in a stunning sunset finale. Sunday's tentative line-up will feature the SPEED Pro Racing World Challenge GT & Touring Championships
According to George Bruggenthies, Road America president and general manager, "The SPEED World Challenge is always a big hit at Road America. We're pleased that we could pair them with the American Le Mans Series and further enhance the experience for our sports car fans."
In addition to the previously scheduled Star Mazda, Formula BMW and Skip Barber National Series, the Atlantic Series will double its show with two races on Saturday and Sunday. For open-wheel fans, these series have always provided fields of young, aggressive drivers whose ambitions fuel unpredictable finishes.
"Fans can count on a solid weekend of premiere, competitive racing," Bruggenthies stated, "It's going to be a full, four-day schedule with very few breaks in track action - one of the best values fans will find this season in road racing."

MARK MARTIN

MARK MARTIN, MCELREATH SELECTED AS INDUCTEES INTO TEXAS MOTOR SPORTS HALL OF FAME

Mark Martin And Jim McElreath, Along With Jimmie Johnson, Sam Hornish Jr. And Arie Luyendyk, To Be Honored April 2 During Annual Ceremony

FORT WORTH, Texas March 06, 2008 - NASCAR veteran driver Mark Martin and open-wheel star Jim McElreath have been selected as this year's inductees into the Texas Motor Sports Hall of Fame and will be honored April 2 at The Speedway Club at Texas Motor Speedway.
In addition, Texas Motor Speedway and Happy Hill Farm Academy announced today that Jimmie Johnson, the two-time defending NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion and defending Dickies 500 winner; Sam Hornish Jr., a three-time IndyCar Series champion and last season's Bombardier Learjet 550k winner; and Indy-car veteran Arie Luyendyk, who won the first nighttime Indy car race at Texas Motor Speedway in 1997, will also be honored with special awards during the ceremony.
McElreath and Martin will join previous inductees A.J. Foyt (2003), Johnny Rutherford (2003), Terry Labonte (2004), Lee Shepherd (2004), Kenny Bernstein (2005), Jim Hall (2005) and Eddie Hill (2006) into the Texas Motor Sports Hall of Fame.
McElreath, a native of Arlington, Texas, was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 2002. McElreath began his rise in racing as a 17-year-old youngster running modified stock cars at the famed Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite.
His open-wheel career began in 1961 in USAC, where he made 170 career starts. McElreath competed in his first Indianapolis 500 in 1962, finishing sixth. He would go on to record three top-five and six top-10 finishes in 15 starts in the Indianapolis 500. Through his illustrious career, McElreath competed in over 185 open-wheel events posting five victories, 48 top-five finishes and 22 podium finishes along with four poles. The 80-year-old also made four starts in what is now known as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
McElreath competed in the 1964 Daytona 500 alongside open-wheel stars Johnny Rutherford, A.J. Foyt and Parnelli Jones. Upon retiring from racing in 1983, McElreath and his wife, Shirley, reside in Arlington, where he works on restoring vintage open- wheel race cars and land development projects.
Martin, a native of Batesville, Ark., is in the midst of his 26th season in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and will once again compete on a part-time basis in 2008. Martin, who earlier this season made his 700th career start, has been a four-time series runner-up (1990, '94, '98, 2002) and has earned 35 victories and 41 poles. Martin's tie to Texas is the large amount of success he has enjoyed at Texas Motor Speedway, including becoming the first driver to win a Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series race at "The Great American Speedway!"
He won the inaugural Coca-Cola 300 Nationwide Series race in 1997 and followed that up with his first Sprint Cup win at TMS, capturing the Texas 500 in 1998.
In 14 Sprint Cup Series starts, Martin has posted one victory, five top-five and seven top- 10 finishes. In the Nationwide Series, he won three of the first four races held at Texas Motor Speedway (1997, '99, 2000) and has four top-five finishes in eight career starts.
The Bruton Smith Legends Award, a lifetime achievement award given to a legendary figure in motorsports, will be presented to Luyendyk. Luyendyk is a two-time Indianapolis 500 winner (1990, '97) and three-time Indy 500 pole winner that is equally well known in Texas for the circumstances surrounding his victory in the inaugural IndyCar Series race at Texas Motor Speedway in 1997.
Luyendyk's name will be forever etched in the TMS history books for his famous Victory Lane skirmish with A.J. Foyt in the inaugural nighttime IndyCar Series race at "The Great American Speedway!" Billy Boat, Foyt's driver, was celebrating the apparent win in Victory Lane when Luyendyk came in to protest the official results and claim he was the winner. Foyt took offense to the visit by Luyendyk and the two tangled in Victory Lane.
USAC officials investigated the protest and made the announcement the following day that Boat was being stripped of the win and declared Luyendyk the winner due to malfunctioning timing and scoring equipment.
In his career, Luyendyk made 170 starts in Indy car competition, posting seven victories, 35 top-five and 81 top-10 finishes.
Luyendyk, now retired from racing, spends his days working with son Arie Luyendyk Jr. on his open wheel career aspirations.
Johnson will be honored as the Texas Motor Speedway Racer of the Year. His victory in last fall's Dickies 500 played a pivotal role in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Johnson left Texas Motor Speedway as the point leader and would go on to capture his second consecutive Sprint Cup Series championship.
Hornish Jr., now a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rookie after an illustrious IndyCar Series career, will be recognized with the Texas Motor Speedway Sportsmanship Award. Hornish Jr.'s charitable contributions to Speedway Children's Charities Texas Chapter have not gone unnoticed. For the past three years, Hornish Jr. has hosted the Sam Hornish Jr. Celebrity Bowling Tournament prior to the Bombardier Learjet 550k race weekend.
Last year's event raised $125,000 to bring the three-year total to $308,500. Hornish Jr. became the first three-time IndyCar Series winner at Texas Motor Speedway with his dominating victory in last June's Bombardier Learjet 550k. Hornish Jr., the three-time IndyCar Series champion and 2006 Indianapolis 500 winner, is beginning a new chapter in his racing career this season as he made the transition over to stock cars. Hornish Jr., driving for Penske Racing, is competing for Rookie of the Year honors this year in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.
The Texas Motor Sports Hall of Fame ceremony benefits Happy Hill Farm Academy, located just south of Granbury, Texas. The 500-acre working farm provides specialized services for children who need another start in life. Happy Hill Farm Academy serves children with a broad range of behavioral and academic issues sometimes a result of abuse and neglect. The environment provided at Happy Hill Farm Academy allows residents to flourish in a non-traditional setting.
The VIP reception prior to the awards ceremony begins at 6 p.m. CT in The Speedway Club at Texas Motor Speedway.       DANICA PATRICK FEATURED IN SPORTS ILLUSTRATED SWIMSUIT ISSUE
INDIANAPOLIS, MARCH, 2008 - IndyCar Series superstar Danica Patrick graces the pages of Sports Illustrated’s annual Swimsuit Issue, which hits newsstands this week. More than 69 million people are expected to read the special issue while more than 250 million people are expected to view photo galleries on the magazine’s website.
"What an amazing honor to be asked to be in the SI Swimsuit issue," said Patrick, who will join other models and celebrities at a launch party Feb. 12 in New York City. "It's such an amazing publication and has such a following. I look at it and I like to see the pictures, and I'm a girl so I can't imagine how many people will see the issue."
A four-page spread features photos of Patrick that were shot at Singer Island, Fla. by photographer Ben Watts last fall following the IndyCar Series Open Test at Barber Motorsports Park. Additionally, a 44-photo gallery is available on Sports Illustrated’s website.
"It was a lot of fun, actually," she said. "I expected it to be nerve-wracking. I've posed (for many photos) in clothes, but I'd never posed in a swimming suit. I didn't know if I'd know exactly what to do, but amazingly it all translated over. I was comfortable and we all had fun. We shot so much stuff in a relatively little amount of time. It was a day and half of a good time. We even were able to relax a little after the second day."
Not only did she spend time in front of the camera, Patrick is also featured in a full-page Q&A with Dan Patrick, who recently made his debut on the pages of SI as a senior writer and weekly columnist.
In addition to its vast U.S. readership, the 2008 SI Swimsuit Issue will be distributed in more than 10 foreign countries, including China, Czech Republic, Greece, Mexico, Netherlands, Russia, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain and Taiwan. The 2008 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Special premieres on TNT Feb. 16 at 11 p.m. ET. The special takes an exciting behind-the-scenes look at the making of the issue. A home DVD version of the program, with bonus footage and exclusive access to the photo shoots, retails for $9.99.
Working directly with Patrick and her Andretti Green Racing team, the Indy Racing League will give fans the opportunity to win a limited edition autographed poster from the SI shoot by visiting indycar.com.
Additionally, the league is running a 2008 schedule advertisement in the popular issue.

NASCAR DRIVER DAVID REUTIMANN TEST AT INFINEON RACEWAY

SONOMA, Calif. March 06, 2008 - NASCAR driver David Reutimann visited Infineon Raceway for the first time on Wednesday and he was surprised by the challenges of the twisting 10-turn, 1.99-mile road course.
Reutimann came to the track for a one-day test session before his first race start in the Sonoma Valley at the Toyota/Save Mart 350 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event, June 20-22. Currently in his second year of full-time Cup Series competition, he was replaced by road-course specialist P.J. Jones for the Infineon Raceway event in 2007.
The visit also marked Reutimann's first trip to the Sonoma Valley and Northern California, and he was quite taken with the rolling hills and beautiful landscape.
"This track is pretty tricky. It's a really neat layout with all of the elevation changes. It's a lot to take on, but it's a great track," said Reutimann. "It's a beautiful area. I've never been here before, and it'll be great to come back in June."
Reutimann, driver of the No. 00 Aaron's Dream Machine Toyota for Michael Waltrip Racing, piloted a GT America stock car supplied by Pioneer Motorsports out of Lake Oroville. He was coached by road-course veteran Chris Cook and completed approximately 90 laps in the full-day test.
"David, even with his limited road-course experience, is that good. He can be a contender on the road courses. He progressed all day long and finished at a very high level," said Cook, who has also worked with NASCAR drivers Johnny Sauter, Paul Menard and Los Gatos native AJ Allmendinger.

THE MILWAUKEE MILE WELCOMES SEARS AUTO CENTER, USAR HOOTERS PRO CUP SERIES TO 2008 SCHEDULE

Historic Saturday, May 31 Event Coinciding with IndyCar Series Weekend

MILWAUKEE, Wis. March 06, 2008 - Today, The Milwaukee Mile announced a new marketing partnership with Sears Holdings and the addition of the "Sears Auto Center 150" United Speed Alliance Racing (USAR) Hooters Pro Cup Series event, to be run on Saturday, May 31.
This will also signify a renewal of Sears' participation at The Milwaukee Mile, as the nearby Hoffman Estates, Ill.-based company was heavily involved as the weekend entitlement sponsor of the historic speedway's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event for six years, from 1995 through 2000.
The Saturday, May 31 Sears Auto Center 150 will run on IndyCar Series Pole Day, one day prior to the ABC Supply / A.J. Foyt 225 IndyCar Series event at The Mile on Sunday, June 1.
There will be no increase in ticket prices for either day according to speedway officials, with Sears Auto Center 150 race day tickets family-friendly priced at $15 for adult general admission, with children ages 12 and under admitted free with an issued ticket.
To accommodate the increased on-track activity, practice and qualifying sessions for the Sears Auto Center 150 will take place on Friday May 30, which will be a free grandstand admission day to allow fans to reacquaint themselves with the traveling stock car series that made a one-off visit to The Mile in 1997.
"We are pleased to welcome Sears Auto Center back to The Milwaukee Mile," commented Milwaukee Mile Chairman Craig Stoehr. "We listened to our fans and worked with the Indy Racing League in moving both of their events to Sunday, to allow us to strike up a partnership with Sears and their existing involvement in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series. Adding more racing on this weekend is a winning move for our loyal fans across the board."
Sears participation in the nationally televised USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series, and the interest of USAR to compete at The Milwaukee Mile made for quick work in making this possible.
"Sears Auto Center is excited to be a sponsor of the USAR Racing Series once again for the 2008 season," said Rick Sawyer, Vice President and General Merchandise Manager of Sears Auto Center. "I know I speak for all Sears Automotive associates in saying how proud we are to be a part of this great racing experience."
The USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series offers two regional series - the Northern Division and Southern Division - that conclude each season in a four race schedule with both series to determine one national champion. The race cars are very similar to NASCAR Nationwide Series stock cars, racing on BFGoodrich Tires g-Force radials. Proven stock car veterans Bobby Gill, Gary St. Amant and Mike Garvey compete against rising talents and accomplished drivers on America's best short tracks.
The Milwaukee Mile will be one of only two mile-long tracks the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series competes on during the 2008 season, which should equate to a high-caliber of drivers competing in the Sears Auto Center 150. By design, USAR does not schedule a Northern and Southern event on the same weekend, allowing for maximum participation. During the 2007 season, over 100 USAR competitors raced at 16 short tracks in 11 states.
Expected in the event activation are the six Hooters Restaurants in Wisconsin, located in the Milwaukee suburb of Greenfield, plus stores in Janesville, Madison, LaCrosse, Green Bay and Appleton. An additional nine locations in Chicago and northern Illinois will also be incorporated in the promotion of the Sears Auto Center 150.
"Returning to The Milwaukee Mile is one of the highlights of our schedule," said Gene Cox, USAR President. "The track is steeped in racing history and will provide a great setting for the Sears Auto Center 150. But the race itself will be historic, as well. For the first time in Hooters Pro Cup Series history, the race will be a combination event, where both divisions will be allowed to compete. With nearly 60 teams expected, this race will be a must-see event."
In 2007 under Stoehr's direction, The Milwaukee Mile renewed a long-standing tradition of hosting the IndyCar Series the Sunday following the Indianapolis 500. With the Sears Auto Centers 150 event on Saturday, and an increase to three championship events now being contested on this much-anticipated weekend, the 100-mile Indy Pro Series race will move to Sunday, June 1 as a prelude to the IndyCar Series race.
The May 30 -- June 1 weekend schedule is a work in progress and be made available on The Mile's website, www.milwaukeemile.com.

JIM AUST

JIM AUST ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT PLANS

TORRANCE, Calif. March 06, 2008 - Jim Aust, who has been responsible for Toyota's motorsports activities in the U.S. for the past 10 years, has announced his retirement. Aust will step down as vice president, motorsports for Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., and president and chief executive officer of TRD, U.S.A. (Toyota Racing Development), on June 31.
Toyota's racing programs in the U.S. flourished under Aust's leadership and included a victory in the Indianapolis 500, multiple series championships and the expansion of the company's racing activities into NASCAR. Beginning in 2004, Toyota began competing in the Craftsman Truck Series with the Tundra and last year Toyota entered the Camry in the Sprint Cup Series, the premiere race series in the U.S.
"Jim has played an integral role in the growth of Toyota's racing activities in the U.S.," said Dave Illingworth, TMS senior vice president, chief planning and administrative officer. "From the high banks of NASCAR to short track midget racing, drag racing, sports cars and off-road trucks, Toyotas are now racing and winning at tracks across the country."
Aust joined Toyota in 1987 and held various management positions in the Toyota Motor Credit Corporation/Toyota Motor Insurance Services (TMCC/TMIS) division before moving to motorsports in 1998.
"There are a lot of great memories, made possible by the hard work of the people at TRD and the great teams and drivers running with Toyota power," Aust said. "There was Toyota's first CART win by Juan Pablo Montoya, Gil de Ferran's Indy 500 win, a CART championship for Cristiano da Matta and an IRL championship for Scott Dixon, Johnny Greaves' multiple championships in CORR, Todd Bodine's championship in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, and the three-peat by Ganassi Racing in the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona.
"Seeing a Camry compete in the Daytona 500 last year for the first time was very special and I expect to see Toyota's first Sprint Cup victory before I retire in June."
Aust's replacements at TMS and TRD will be announced closer to his retirement date.

AUDI UNVEILS NEW A4 DTM

MARCH 06, 2008 - Ingolstadt/Genf - To make a championship winning car even better -- the Audi Sport engineers and technicians faced this delicate task when the job of developing the DTM race version of the new Audi A4 arose. From the visual aspect they certainly succeeded: The new A4 DTM, which was publicly unveiled for the first time at the Motor Show in Geneva, spontaneously appears even more dynamic than the successful predecessor model with which Mattias Ekstrom won the DTM title last year.
The fourth-generation Audi A4 DTM, which bears the project name "R14" internally at Audi Sport, is also futuristic from the technical aspect. With the help of state-of-the-art CFD calculations (Computational Fluid Dynamics) particular attention was paid to the air flow running around and through the car. "In doing so we completed what we had already started last year with the R13," explains Head of Audi Motorsport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich. "We are convinced that we have achieved the most logical optimisation of the aerodynamics allowed within the framework of the regulations."
During the twelve month development period, which started in March 2007, a predominantly new DTM car differing in many details to its predecessor was created in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm. "Ground breaking technical innovations on a par with quattro, FSI or TDI are not possible owing to the restrictive nature of the regulations," says Dr Martin Muhlmeier, Head of Audi Sport Technology. "In the DTM it's more a question of the logical interpretation and implementation of the technology allowed."
In the process it was possible to reduce the car's centre of gravity height and to further reduce the dry weight, which in turn gives the race engineers more flexibility to set the car up to suit specific race tracks and the weight distribution.
The technicians even found development potential in the four-litre near 460 hp V8 engine used in the Audi A4 DTM. The internal friction was further reduced which in turn benefited the power produced and torque curve.
The basic principle of the vehicle, which is stipulated by the regulations, remains the same: The A4 DTM is a thoroughbred race car with the silhouette of the new Audi A4. The chassis has a hybrid concept. It consists of almost 31 metres of steel tube of the type also used in the aerospace industry. The driver sits in a carbon fibre safety cell that actually resembles a Formula 1 monocoque. This combination guarantees the highest torsional stiffness and safety.
The bodywork is made from carbon-fibre composite and is -- in spite of all the aerodynamic gadgets -- immediately identifiable at first glance as an Audi A4. The distinctive brand styling-elements like the Single Frame grille and the white LED daytime low-beam lights ensure that the face of the A4 DTM has the same unique look like the road going model.
The most important components of the new DTM were tested immediately after the end of the 2007 DTM season. The first R14 prototype completed its roll-out shortly before Christmas at Le Castellet (France). Before its race debut on 13 April at the Hockenheimring, the new Audi A4 DTM will have spooled off several thousand test kilometres -- including endurance tests.
"The new road going A4 has already won many international awards in a very short period of time
